 | From 14.07.2022 to 25.07.2022 Bulgarian Navy will conduct Bulgarian Naval Exercise With Multinational Participation “BREEZE 22”. The exercise is planned and will be executed in accordance with NATO standard procedures. Exercise “BREEZE 22” will take place in the territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Bulgaria in areas that were broadcasted in advance. In the exercise participants from 11 countries with 24 military and auxiliary vessels, 5 aircrafts, 4 helicopters and total of 1390 military personal will take part. The participating countries are Bulgaria, Albania, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Türkiye, US and MARCOM. 121 representatives from 4 ministries, 21 directorates, various agencies and organizations will take part in the exercise, as well. The exercise command will be deployed in Burgas naval base and will be assisted by Varna naval base. In order to facilitate the safety of navigation a set of navigational warning were broadcasted. | There is a threat of drifting mines in the Northwest, West, and Southwest areas of the Black Sea.
Drifting mines have been detected, and national authorities are working to find and neutralize any other mines in the region.
Masters should take all precautions to mitigate the mine threat including avoiding floating objects, keep the forward area of the ship clear of crew, and using effective look-outs.
In addition, we advise that shipping take appropriate countermeasures as described in "ATP-02.1 - Naval Cooperation and Guidance For Shipping (NCAGS) Manual".

The risk of collateral damage or direct hits on Civilian Shipping in the War Risk Area (NAVAREA III 0124/2022) of the Black Sea area remains VERY HIGH. The risk of GPS jamming, AIS spoofing, communications jamming, electronic interference and cyber-attacks in the area are considered HIGH.
Harassment and diversion of shipping in the area cannot be excluded.
A significant number of navigation warnings have been issued by NAVAREA COORDINATOR III (responsible for broadcasting NAVAREA warnings on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov).

Vessels must ensure the automatic identification system (AIS) is always transmitting (except when the master believes that continuing to operate AIS might compromise the safety or security of the
ship or when a security incident is imminent), consistent with provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and monitor VHF Channel 16.
In order to avoid an accidental engagement, it is recommended to maintain AIS signal containing basic identification information. Please report any incident to NSC by email to: info@shipping.nato.int.
